BEIJING, CHINA
Part of the news out of the recently completed China Open in Beijing's National Aquatics Center has been the placement of a sample of Omega's new starting block in lane 9. The new starting platform has raised discussion about whether or not FINA should allow the block to be used in this year's Olympics.
An article discussing the block was published today by The Australian, online here.
A picture of the block is contained within this article.
The block is expected to come up for a vote at the FINA Technical Congress that will be held in conjunction with April's Short Course Worlds in Manchester, UK. There has yet to be an indication of whether or not the item will be discussed at the FINA Bureau meeting this Thursday and Friday in Lausanne, Switzerland.
